Twelve Baskets Future Plans
Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Twelve Baskets informational meeting this past Sunday. We had about 50 people in attendance! This shows me how excited you all are about this new ministry for our church. Great questions were asked, and some of you have already put your names on the volunteer list!
For those of you who could not make it, here is a recap:
The progress has been steady and promising toward starting a resale store. The idea was hatched in June of 2022 with the aim of raising funds to support our Outreach Ministry. Soon after, in October of 2023, a committee was formed to spearhead this initiative.
To test the concept, we organized two “pop-up” events. The first pop-up was held to spread the word among our congregation, creating excitement and anticipation. The second pop-up drew in more of our neighbors, demonstrating the potential reach and impact of the resale store. Both events served a great purpose in gauging interest and gathering initial support.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we now have two storage units filled with fabulous donations. However, it has become evident that we have outgrown both the church and the storage space. To address this, we are actively looking for a permanent retail space close to the church. It is a process that will take a few months.
With a new location, we will be able to establish our presence outside the church and serve our neighbors in a more tangible and impactful way.
We are looking at a three-year lease agreement that will need the support of our congregation: financially, initially, to get started, and especially with volunteer support. This ministry will be run fully with a volunteer staff, although not all the volunteers will have to come from St. Andrew’s. We will also use other community resources to help recruit volunteers outside our church, such as Volunteer McKinney, NCL, and McKinney Boyd HS, to name a few.
The opportunity to have a permanent location is truly wonderful. It not only allows us to raise funds for our Outreach Ministry but also enables us to engage with the wider community and meet the needs of our neighbors. We are excited about the progress we have made so far and look forward to the positive impact our resale store will have on both our church and the community.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can be reached at the church, (972) 548-7990.
We NEED YOU to make this happen! This ministry will take many of us to bring it to life, so please consider how you can help!
