See What’s Happening This Sunday at St. Andrew’s

Dear Friends,

If you didn't get a chance this past Sunday, please join in welcoming our new music director, Dr. Joe Henry. Dr. Joe actually has two doctorates in music -- piano and organ -- and is an excellent vocalist as well as instrumentalist. He'll be directing our adult choir (which will return to a cadence of singing weekly), leading music at the second (11:00 am) service, and overseeing music at St. Andrew's more broadly. You're liable to see him helping out at VBS, starting a children's choir, and even playing a part occasionally at the first (9:00 am) service. He's also a sergeant, having served the Army in active duty, reserve, and the National Gard since 1989. Not only did he play in military bands, but he was also a chaplain's assistant! We're so thrilled to add his talents, experience, and fine liturgical sensibilities to our worship. Even if you don't go to the second service regularly, I encourage you to come one week just for the experience of worshipping with his musical leadership.

Speaking of the second service, there's another good reason to come to that service this week: we are admitting nine new members to the Order of the Daughters of the King and the two to Junior Daughters of the King on Sunday! That's eleven women and girls who are taking on a commitment to prayer, service, and evangelism in their lives. And these nine daughters will be among those who pray for you and your loved ones when you check that box above your prayer request on the Connection Card. A light reception will follow the service in honor of our new Daughters.

So even though we've had to postpone the shrimp boil for the time being, we're still going to have a great weekend. Service at Samaritan Inn, study with our new Disciples of All National class, and worship and prayer at both our services. I look forward to seeing you there.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
