It’s not Groundhog Day for the Church
Dear Friends,
Today is Groundhog Day. And not only did Punxsutawney Phil prophesy six-more weeks of winter (bah! humbug!), but those very wintery days are falling upon us this very evening!
Given the winter weather moving in, and as the ISDs have already begun to cancel classes, St. Andrew’s will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday (Feb. 3-4).
If you need to reach the clergy or member of the staff, you can still call the church phone number, 972-548-7990 and get a hold of someone. Of course, all our emails will also work.
Please stay warm and safe. If you need anything, please let your church family come and help. Deacon Logan and I will be more than happy to help coordinate anything we can.
A final note: February 2nd in the church’s life is not actually Groundhog Day. It’s the feast of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple — the day that Mary and Joseph brought the baby Jesus into the Temple for the first time. In the Temple, two wise, aged, and faithful servants of the Lord: Simeon and Anna, recognized Jesus for who he was, despite his being a six-week old toddler. It’s a good reminder that the fulfillment of God’s promises may not arrive in our lives with fireworks, but the eyes of faith can help us see what the Lord is up to. Let us pray for eyes to see God’s work among us — maybe even in the midst of this storm.
In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
