Find Ways to Participate in Advent
Dear Friends,
After a very busy few weeks, it was a great blessing to have some time this week to spend with family, to get a few days without any alarm clock, and to eat some delicious food. I was grateful for a bit of a break. All the while though, my thanksgiving for this parish and people God has brought together here was never far from my heart or mind or prayers. I am deeply thankful to serve our Lord together with you.
’Tis the season now though, the season of Advent. This Sunday will be the First Sunday of Advent. Culturally we’ve known Christmas has been coming for a while, but now the expectation of our Lord’s coming will make its way into our liturgy and into all the many wonderful things we’re doing this time of year.
As you can see in this email, there’s a lot on the calendar — particularly the next two weeks. Don’t try to do it all! But do find a couple things that will work for your schedule. We have some great opportunities to serve and to learn. And most of all, I hope you’ll make it a priority to join us for worship. In a time of year that can easily feel like it gets out of control, let worship be a constant place to steady our spirits, root our joy, and remember that God’s Christmas present is peace on Earth not extra pressure for the stressed.
In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
