Logan’s Ordination this Saturday

Dear Friends,

This Saturday at 10:00 am Logan Hurst will be ordained a priest in Christ's one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Come and be a part of this festive occasion.

There are many good reasons to go to an ordination:

  • To celebrate with and support Logan and his family in a life-changing commitment and call (much as you would go to a wedding).

  • It's an inspiring and festive service, with beautiful music, pageantry, and preaching.

  • The food at the reception will be delicious.

But there's one theological reason that trumps them all: Logan's ordination belongs to the Church.

See, Logan is not being ordained just because Logan believes he was called by God, but because both Logan and the Church believe that he has been called by God to a special role, an "order," within the Church. The bishop will be the sacramental celebrant, but the Sacrament of Ordination itself belongs to the Church. We do not go so we can watch. We go to be the earthly representatives of the glorious Church eternal in which Logan is being ordained a priest.

So I invite to you to come and be the Church on Saturday morning. Celebrate with us.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew

PS: The following day, this Sunday, November 20, the newly-ordained Fr. Logan will celebrate the Holy Eucharist at both services.
