A Dictionary of Hope
A Dictionary of Hope is a 24-day Advent devotional written by the members, staff, and clergy of St. Andrew’s.
It’s available as
an almost free Kindle ebook,
an inexpensive paperback book.
From the Introduction:
Advent is a season of anticipation and hope in a culture that has decided it’s already time to celebrate. This little book cries out, “just wait one hot minute and let us reflect and pray!”
This little book is our stick in the mud.
We know our culture’s celebration will be glitzy and bright and cheery. We also know that the floodwaters of “Happy Holidays” and “Jingle Bells” will recede. Once the torrent of our cultural Christmas passes, our stick in the mud will remain. And little buds will form on it, and they will leaf out and burst into glorious bloom.
Stopping everyday to have Advent in the middle of the “Happy Holidays” will not only bless your December but your months and year to come as well. That, at least, is our prayer.
