Seasons of Change
St. Andrew’s Family,
One of the most unsettling times in life comes in seasons that bring about change. Liz and I are currently in one of those seasons. Mikey starts kindergarten next Thursday! We are anxious about our little guy starting school. Will he be scared? Will he make friends? Will his teacher love him as we do? All these questions stem from entering a new community where there are infinite unknowns. We have been proactive in attending parent’s meetings, going to all the social events, and joining the PTA. We have found that building relationships with parents and teachers draws us into the community and helps ease some of the pains of change.
We have assurance in the truth that God is always with us, constantly drawing us into relationship with him. One of the benefits of being in relationship with God is being part of his family, the body of Christ. The ties we have to each other in and through the person of Jesus provide a community of strength and service. Being in relationship with each other is a gift. A gift that must be cultivated through worship, service, and fellowship.
At St. Andrews, we are launching a new way to encourage our community to form new relationships with our supergroups. Supergroups are short-term small groups that gather for a meal to build new relationships and have meaningful spiritual conversations. Whether you have been a member of St. Andrew’s for years or, like Liz and me, you are brand new, Supergroups provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other over a meal. I encourage you to sign up and enjoy the community God has gifted us.
Peace and Grace,
Deacon Logan
