Clergy Conference Report

Dear Friends,

The first few days of this week, Fr. Logan and I were at our annual Clergy Conference of the Diocese of Dallas. It was every single bit as cool is you might imagine. We enjoyed deep philosophical lectures about mortality and morality, had six worship services, listened to the (almost all of) the gospel of Mark read aloud in the King James Version, and told lots of Bible and liturgy jokes.

Also, Fr. Logan and I helped lead the “low-church” soccer team to victory in “high-church” vs. “low-church” soccer. While it must be allowed that the beautiful game loses something of its beauty when played by middle-aged priests, I do want you to know that your priests, at least, are winners. Some churches this week have loser priests, but not St. Andrew’s. 😂

More seriously though, I always leave gatherings of clergy with renewed gratitude for you, the people of St. Andrew’s: for your heart for service to “the least of these,” your warmth and love for one another (and your clergy and staff), and most of all for your openness and responsiveness to the Spirit of Christ. Not every priest is so blessed as to serve with the people of St. Andrew’s. I am so glad I am. Thank you!

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
