Annual Meeting 10 am Sunday
Dear Friends,
I know that many of us get our electricity from CoServ (also many of us don’t). If you live where CoServ is the electric provider, that’s your one and only choice.
Because it is a cooperative, in some technical sense, if you have CoServ you also own CoServ. Which is why every year they try to get their members to come to their annual meeting. This is a hard sell. The meeting is in Denton. Often in the middle of the day. I don’t know what they’ll be doing for 2025, but in the past they’ve offered all sorts of enticements for attending, like bill credits and food. They even used to give away F-150s that were being retired from their fleet of work trucks.
Well, St. Andrew’s has an annual meeting on Sunday. And I’m sorry to say we are not giving away any F-150s (though we do actually have food and a couple great door prizes).
There is a sense in which our meeting is also a business meeting. But I want to encourage you to attend not because of what we have to do, but because of who we need to be. As part of this meeting we’ll report about who we were in 2024 (there’s lots of good news there). We’ll talk about the sort of church we hope to become in 2025 (good stuff on the horizon). And we’ll see how moving from who we were to who we will become will require us being, right now, a parish that leans into our core value commitments to invite and to involve.
I hope the news of this meeting is not a surprise. I hope you received the email invitation to the Annual Meeting, or saw the notice in the bulletin, or heard the announcements on Sunday mornings, or read it in previous editions of The Net. I hope 10 am is already on your calendar. But if it’s not yet, consider this one final invitation. Everyone is invited.
In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
