This Week's Monumental VBS!
Dear Friends,
We’ve had a great week up here at Vacation Bible School — a loud, energetic, and occasionally messy, great week. The imagined setting for Vacation Bible School is the vast deserts of the American Southwest, particularly Monument Valley in Utah. One of the upsides of being in Texas is that our weather each day has really helped set the mood. 🥵
You can see photos from this week on Flat Andy’s Instagram page. If you haven’t already, you should follow him. In addition to documenting VBS, Flat Andy will soon be posting pictures of his various travels across the country — and even around the world — this summer! Another helpful hint: if you are away from St. Andrew’s and need a copy of Flat Andy, he’s downloadable from the website too. (Note: VBS pictures are also available on the St. Andrew’s Parish Life Facebook group, which is run by the staff rather than Flat Andy.)
Each day at Vacation Bible School almost 40 adults and youth come together to make it happen. I’ve been immensely grateful for them, and not just for their hard work, but for the joy and energy it brings when all of us work together, get to know one another better, see new gifts and talents, and help share the good news of God’s monumental love with our children. As I said in my sermon on Sunday, it takes all of us playing our notes to sound the right chord, to really live into the image of God. We’re definitely experiencing that this week!
This coming Sunday, we’ve invited all the families from VBS to come to the 9:00 am service. At the Offertory we’ll show a brief slideshow recapping the week, and then have our VBS kids sing one of their VBS songs as the Offertory. What a great way to celebrate Father’s Day!
In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
