New Sunday Class on 4 Types of Love

Dear Friends,

Over the rest of Eastertide, we will be hearing readings about the love of God from 1 John, who famously wrote, “God is love.” Along with this, we’ll be having a Sunday morning adult series on C.S. Lewis' The Four Loves. The class will meet in Michie Hall from April 14 through May 5, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.

The class will explore the different types of love that Lewis identifies in his book: affection, friendship, eros, and charity. We will discuss how each type of love has its own unique characteristics and purpose, and how all four are essential for a fulfilling life.

Lewis’ work (along with that of St. John) opens us to a deeper understanding of the different dimensions of love and how they can enrich our lives. We will also explore how these ideas can help us to grow in our love for God and for others. I’ll be leading the discussions, and I’d love to have you join us.

Reading the book is recommended (it’s easily available online at Amazon or at places like Half Price Books), but not required. We’ll begin with the first love, “Affection,” this coming Sunday.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
