How is God Calling You This Lent?
What is your relationship with Jesus like at this point of time? How do you spend time with Jesus on a daily and weekly basis? These are good questions to ask in any season of the year, but they are especially relevant in Lent, when we examine our lives and discern where we need to turn ourselves back to God.
One spiritual practice for Lent could be taking some time to journal about our spiritual lives and look at them through different lenses. Possible questions might be: How am I doing with my daily prayers? My Bible reading and other spiritual reading? My service to others? What questions do I have that I would like to ask God, my clergy, or other spiritual mentors and friends? What spiritual practice would I like to try this year? How do I want my relationship with Jesus to grow over the coming year?
I hope the practices that we offer at church will be helpful to you on your Lenten journey. Our Wednesday dinners and discussions are designed to spark conversations about where we seek a sense of worthiness in life. The more aware we are of those things that we might be unintentionally putting before God, the better we can redirect ourselves to God. I hope that you will join us at these discussions, even if you can’t attend every week.
I love that we offer Morning Prayer outside in the Garden Chapel on Tuesday mornings, as well as Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday. I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in our Sunday discussion group last week. I pray that this Lent will bring you growth in your individual relationship with God and that you will have the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus through spiritual conversation and fellowship.
In Christ,
Deacon Erica
