Happy St. Andrew Day!

Dear Friends,

Happy St. Andrew Day!

This is our “patronal feast,” the day on which our patron saint, St. Andrew, is celebrated. For obvious reasons, I’ve always been a big St. Andrew fan. Love the guy. But I love St. Andrew’s, the church, too. And my love for this place named in his honor has deepened my affinity for the saint. I am thankful not just for the example of his life, but for this community that has grown up around the core values we identify from Andrew’s story in the gospel: invite, involve, instruct and inspire.

This year — with Advent as short as it can possibly be — we have a chance to celebrate the feast, which we will do at a worship service tonight at 7:00 pm.

If you’ve never been to one of our weekday feasts before, they are reverent, simple, and holy times to gather, sing, pray and share Holy Communion together. The rain looks like it will be stopping around then too.

Tomorrow (Friday) night we begin the observance of the Christmas season with “Advent Fellowship Night:” food, crafts, songs and funs for all ages (not just families with young kids!). It's always one of our highlight events of the year.

And Sunday we will begin our observance of Advent, the holy season of waiting and anticipation for the coming of Christ. The true joy of Christmas is connected to the waiting and anticipation of Advent. Make a special effort this season to be at worship if you can (our discipleship series between the services “A Worldwide Christmas” will be great too).

More details, even including our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day schedules can be found below. Find ways to let this season of Advent enrich your celebration of Christmas.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
